2010 Maryland Fishing and Boating Trade Show and Expo Schedule

We've compiled a list of the upcoming Winter and Spring 2010 fishing and boating trade shows and expos that are in Maryland (or close by). If you know of a show that should be on this list but is not, please let us know so we can add it. Fishing shows are a great way to shake the winter doldrums, pick up a few angling tips, check out the latest tackle innovations, and spend some time talking fishing or boating with some great people.

1881 Striped Bass Fishing

I recently found an article from a monthly magazine published in 1881
entitled simply "Striped Bass." It is fairly easy to that the angler's
reverence of the striped bass is not Johnny-come-lately. Seems like
fishermen from the late-1800's pursued the striped bass as eagerly as we do
today.

Striper season for MD closed on December 15 and it has been one heck of a Fall season. By all estimates it was probably one of the best fall seasons we have had in quite some time. A lot of anglers hooked up with citations and personal best catches. There were plenty of Rockfish caught over 40lbs and some above 50lbs.

Maryland Striped Bass season has ended, but catch and release is still an option. Striper Dave proves to the skeptics that stripers still bite when both the weather and the water are cold - you just have to know where to go, when to go, and how to fish it once you are there.

Solomons Island water temperatures are showing around 56 degrees, while up the Bay to Baltimore temperatures are showing at 54 degrees. Reports have been a bit scattered this week and anglers are finding the fish mostly holding over deeper water up to 100 feet. A lot of the fish seem to be hanging in the water column at about 25 to 35 feet down over the deeper water, however some are holding on or near the bottom.
